Brief Answer:
Need antibiotic treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HCM forum.

Your son had an insect bite, and now the lesion is red, irritated and pus filled-this indicates secondary infection, and need antibiotic treatment.

In such cases, after draining any pus collection,I usually gives antibiotics like amoxicillin+cloxacillin or amoxicillin+clavulonate and analgesics for 5-7 days.If there is associated itching, anti histamines also will be added.
If fully immunized,no need of tetanus shot.
Kindly see your doctor without delay for early control of infection.

Hope this will answer your query.
Thank you.
