Question: My son is 15yrs old and every year for the last 3yrs his lymph nodes are turning reactive and are enlarged and they never return back to their baseline size. He has them in his armpits, neck (both sides) under his chin and groin area. He has had blood test and the 1st year I noticed the enlarged lymph node in his neck he had a biopsy done, but physician keep telling me nothing is wrong. Why are his lymph nodes reactive?? is my question ...and why are more and more turning reactive every year....what could be causing this

Hi,Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM.

Reviewed the query in context to the health concerns worrying You.

Reason for these increasing number of reactive nodes- seem to be non-cancerous,as your doctors have certified it after blood tests.More increasing number every year is explained by more interactive infections with seasonal infections.
As your son is without any other complaint with it, You need not worry.

I would suggest you to check with dermatologist, who would treat the scalp infections, which is the common cause for the neck glands.

Besides this, these are the active years, and the more exposures from increased air interactions, increase chances of non-specific viral and skin infections, which lead to these reactive lymph nodes.
Still Infectious mono / TB Lymph-adenitis, needs to be ruled out in your son's case.

Second opinion from Physician doctor would resolve your health issues, after proper physical checks and lab/radiological checks.

Hope this would help you to reduce your worry and help you to plan treatment for your son in a better way.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.
