default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jul 2015
Question: I have the contraceptive bar in my arm, I have for a bit over 5 months now, no symptoms except bleeding everyday for those first 4 months..

I now haven't had my period for a month, I have really sore and slightly bigger breasts with really sensitive areolas, I feel slightly sick a couple times a day that last about 10-15 minutes (maybe less). I feel bloated and slightly tired during the day when I sit around, I have cramps near my belly button on the left that last around 20 minutes,

Please help me, Thank you.

Brief Answer:
common side effects of implants.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concerns.

Contraceptive implants can cause significant alteration in periods.

Around 20% of women using the implant will have no bleeding, and almost 50% will have infrequent or prolonged bleeding.

Bleeding patterns are likely to remain irregular, although they may settle down after the first year.

Your symptoms of breast tenderness, bloating, fatigue, feeling sick and cramps in abdomen are common side effects of implants.

These should settle in sometime but you can try following tips:

You can take ibuprofen for pain relief.
Drink lots of water.
Eat a healthy diet and drink lots of water.
Avoid fatty and spicy food.

Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further.
Thanks.
