Suggest Remedy For Eye And Mouth Dryness With Difficulty In Breathing Caused By Sinus Infection

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Dec 2015
Question: I have had a general anaesthetic a week ago and was diagnosed with a sinus infection 2 days later, I have finished my antibiotics today but am still troubled with dry mouth and eyes, crouching up phlegm if I breath too deeply and if I breath through my nose I get phlegm in my throat. I no longer have pain in my face or headache but it does hurt my throat and chest and back if I take a deep breath. Do I need to go back to my doctor or will this right itself.

Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. It usually takes 7-10 days to see get improvement depending upon the severity of infection. I would suggest you to wait for 2-3 days and follow these measures:

- cetirizine one at night for 5 days.
- Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.
- Take boiling water in a pot, put your head over the steam and cover whole with a sheet. Take deep breaths in it.(Avoid getting closer else it might cause burn). Do this twice a day.

AVOID:
> Chilled water
> Drinks
> Spicy food

Hopefully you will see improvement in 2-3 days BUT if condition remains same or aggravates then you need to visit hospital for further workup

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
