Question: Hi, I'm having a dull and heavy pressure pelvic, hip, and buttock pain on my right side. It started on Saturday after I started eating. The pain first felt like a sharp stabbing pain. Then the next day, it become dull and heavy. I just feel a heavy pressure now on my right pelvic, hip , and buttock region. I took some Advil to help relieve the pain. It does help. I should be getting on my period in another week or two. I also have vitamin d deficiency and I have low iron, so I take iron pills.

Brief Answer:
Possibly due to ovulation/appendicitis;further tests for proper diagnosis..

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

The dull and heavy pressure; pelvic, hip and buttock pain on your right side might be related to ovulation cramps.

However, you are also mentioning that the pain started on Saturday after you started eating. At this point, I'd like to have a few more details:
- did you also notice any change in your bowel movements: loose stool? hard? or alternating?
- any other symptoms like nausea?
- is the pain constant or related to food?
- any fever or any other flu-like symptoms?

Apart ovulation, appendicitis is also to consider. As the pain has continued from Saturday until now, I advise to run further investigative tests to determine the right diagnosis:
- complete blood count
- urine analysis
- abdominal ultrasound

For the moment, I advise to continue taking Advil to ease the pain. If it will fail, then, consider taking mephenamic acid and apply warm clothing locally.

Wish fast recovery!

No, there have not been changes to my stool habits and I have not had any nausea, fever, or flu-like symptoms. I had a complete blood count done in May. That's how I had found out I am vitamin d deficient and have low iron. I also forgot to mention that I tend to sit on the floor a lot lately. Could that have anything to do with it?

Brief Answer:
Could be a factor;still insisting in running the tests...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

Thank you for providing the requested information.

Taking into account your new information and the fact that you've been sitting on the floor a lot lately, that could partially explain the pain you are feeling due to inducing spasms of the abdomen.

However, I'm still thinking over ovulation as the main factor; that's why I insist to run the above-mentioned tests.

All the best!
