Question: I've got some discomfort behind my breastbone that began two nights ago when I swallowed a piece of chicken cartilage. It's not painful, just uncomfortable. I have been able to eat and drink, but the discomfort isn't going away.

Should not cause consequances

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
It should not cause any consequances and symptoms should improve in next few days. After such incidents rarely some serious injuries of esophagus happens. There is probably just irritation of esophageal mucosa and it should improve in few days. YOu should eat more liquid food, drink warm menta tea and avoid overeating. If pain progresse, you should see gastroenterologist and do gastroscopy. Wiah you good health. Regards
