Question: I have been battling a cold for the last 4 or 5 days. I felt a small bulge in front of my right tragus and a family member says my face is a little swollen around the area. Could this me related to my cold?

Brief Answer:
Enlarged lymph node.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for using Healthcare Magic. The swelling is likely to be an enlarged lymph node. There are many around the head and neck area and they will become enlarged in response to infection and inflammation even when the infection is relatively minor. It may become a little tender but it will reduce in size as your cold improves. There is no treatment as such for the swelling. Paracetamol and ibuprofen will help your cold symptoms. Drink plenty of water to ensure good hydration.
I hope you feel better soon. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger
