Posted on Fri, 31 Jul 2015
Question: I am on Warfarin, have been for several years. I just had a blood test today. My INR is 4.1. I have a weak blood vessel in my right nostril. Because I'm on O2 all the time it bleeds, scabs up and it comes out and bleeds again. Today it's been 4 hours + and still bleeding. I do NOT want to go to the ER. Im not taking Warfarin for 2 days. Any ideas? ....a cork?

Brief Answer:
You should press right nostril till bleeding stops

Detailed Answer:
hello,
I am Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD
you have taken right step by stopping warfarin for 2 days. This will control your prolonged PT INR and check bleeding. But I would like to know what is the indication of warfarin in your case.you may need to continue for long time .your INR should be adjusted according to the indication for which you are prescribed. Is it following DVT Or you have prosthetic valve? please inform me so that I can guide for restarting it and monitoring its dose.
kindly furnish your over all medical condition so that I can correlate and guide you
My best wishes
