Question: I have uncircumcised foreskin on my penis. last time while having sex, i got a tear on left side of the foreskin and i observe a burning sensation now while peeing. i want to ask, what home based treatment can i go ahead with for this - any creame or oil which can heel this quickly? I want to avoid visiting a doctor and I want to avoid doing circumcision procedure as well. I am 26 year old.

Brief Answer:
Neosporin ointment locally is fine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can fully understand your concern.

For a tear in foreskin, without any bleeding, you may use Neosporin ointment.
Apply it twice daily, after your bath.
Maintain good penile hygiene.

Avoid sex till it heals completely.
It may take up to a week for that.

Wish you good health.
You're welcome to clear any other related doubts, you may have.

Brief Answer:
Photographs will be very helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Certainly it'll help to see photographs of the tear,as you'rent keen to see a doctor.

A minor tear can be treated without surgery.
But if bleeding has occurred, don't take it lightly, as it may need urgent surgery.

Awaiting close-up photographs of the tear.

Then i can also advise you safe measures, in your interest.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
not safe for conservative treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.

Have gone through the photographs.
The tear is certainly not minor.

I would advise a check-up with an Urologist,as it may need at least, a suturing of the tear,as it may bleed profusely otherwise, during sex.

The other complication is infection of the skin,at the tear site.
This will require antibiotics and will leave a bad scar later.

In your interest, it's better to see your Urologist.
If you've any other doubt, feel free to contact me.

Hi again doc,

I visited my urologist today and he saw the wound. He told me that there are two options for me, either to go for circumcision or for natural heeling of tear by using oinment and antibiotics.
He said these both options will be able to heel the situation. For another opinion, I would like to ask you the pros and cons of both options, so as I dont come across any issues in my sexual life at later stage.

Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
Two options available.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.

In your interest, i'll advise a circumcision or just suturing of the tear.

Suturing of the tear, is stitching up the tear, and then wait till it heals.
Further bleeding will be prevented by this, like in a circumcision.

Circumcision will remove your foreskin permanently.

Both are safe options.
But, i'll never advise you to wait for natural healing.

Hope you take a wise decision.
Wish you good health.
