Question: Hi, I'm 34 years old from XXXXXXX From past 6 months I had severe knee and sole pains due to which I was unable to walk and stand. Around 3 months back doctor has suggested some therapy which gave temporary relief. Again from past 15 days the pain started and it was unbearable. Doctor recommended to go for certain blood test. He outcome was that vitamin d is below 3.1, uric acid level is 6.9 and calcium is in borderline. Also there is a cartilage damage in both legs and also mentioned that I'm having flat feet. Request you to kindly let me know what should I do as still pain is unbearable and I have to sleep and take much rest.

Brief Answer:
Activated Vitamin D supplementation important.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through the details provided. The vitamin D level is very low and needs supplementation at the earliest. As of now, I would insist you to apply hot compress and it should provide some relief. If required, take paracetamol tablets and apply hot compress. Please mention if the area seems hot and tender since that could indicate some inflammatory cause. The uric acid levels are on the higher range and I would need to ask if you have suffered from similar problems before. I also need to ask you if you have any other ongoing illnesses or if you have high blood pressure.

Please continue the mentioned medicines in the meantime.

Depending upon the intensity of the problems, ultrasonotherapy might be needed. Please get in touch with a physical therapist who could help with it. He could also guide you about any suitable footwear modification that could help with your flat feet.

I will await your response. Let me know if I could help further.

Hello Doctor,

Thanks for your reply. Please find my response as below.
1. I am applying hot compress and thereafter ICE gel which gives me temporary relief. Also, taking Lorsaid Sd 8 my tablet for pain.
2. I did not had any such problems in past. I am suffering from hyperhydrodis since childhood. Apart from that 2 to 3 months back I was diagnosed with diabetes which was around 160 to 180 post lunch. However , in the recent blood test of random blood sugar it was 96. Hence, doctor did not prescribed anything.
3. When I had this problem in September 2015, I did visited physiotherapy and they gave me ultrasound plus IFT therapy for knees and soles. Also, m wearing soft soles shoes.
4. The above therapy gave me relief for 2 months and again it has started. So what could be better solution.
5. Also, wanted to know if I can take Vitamin d injections and what kind do veg diet I should take for the above problems.

Brief Answer:
Vitamin D supplementation needed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster.

1. Hot compress alternating with cold compress and Lorsaid SD8 should provide relief. But Vitamin D supplementation is essential.
2. Since the random sugar level was ok your doctor has not prescribed anything. After a month or so repeat blood sugar test - both fasting and post prandial on the same day. You may contact me thereafter for suggestions.
3. Fine.
4. Spinal traction would give better results.
5. You definitely need to take Vitamin D injection (Arachitol 3 lakh units) once every month for three months.
