Posted on Sat, 18 Jun 2016
Question: In the past few days, when lifting weights, I feel unusually numb in the area underneath my right elbow. This problem will go away a few hours after I'm done working out but will return when I lift again. How do you suggest I go about treatment?

Brief Answer:
Treatment if symptoms interfere with everyday activities.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

It could be compression of nerves that supply that area such branches of radial or ulnar nerves, that are causing the numbness after physical effort.

But also the cause may be impaired blood flow to that area due to physical activity.

You should seek treatment if those symptoms affect your way of living, and restrict you to function properly.

It is necessary also for a correct diagnosis before to discuss about treatment.

In my opinion, nerve conduction study and Doppler ultrasound of the vessels of the affected arm are necessary to achieve a correct diagnosis.

Discuss about these tests with your primary care Doctor.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
