Suggest Remedies For Rashes On The Arms
Question: My wife came into contact with poison ivy 2 weeks ago and had a rash on her arms and a few other places on her legs and stomach. A few days after that, she took MethylPrednisolone for 3 days. On the last day she was taking the medicine, swelling appeared in her cheeks. She then stopped taking the medicine. A few days later the facial swelling subsided, but appeared again 2 days ago worse than the first time. Not sure what to do.

Is she having itching, burning or any other complaints on the rash?
Is she having any history of fever, joint pains, body aches, oral ulcers?
Is she taking any other medicines or having any other ailments?
Kindly revert with the answers.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be allergic reaction, topical & oral steroids, moisturising cream
Detailed Answer:
According to your complaints it seems to be an allergic reaction to poison Ivy most likely.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to take oral steroids for another few days.
You can take tablet prednisone 10 mg once daily for 10 days and then taper it slowly over a period of few days.
Steroids are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
Also apply topical steroid like cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily for 10-12 days along with frequent and liberal application of a moisturising lotion on the entire face, legs and arms 2-3 times in a day.
Meanwhile she can continue with zyrtec.
