Question: I have yellow diarrhea for more than 2 days. I need to go to the bathroom in almost every 5-10 minutes. I took nurofen to help to ease my fever and muscular pain.

Brief Answer:
fluids, hold food, probiotics, continue loperamide

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The symptoms may be due to viral or bacterial infection of the gastrointestinal tract.
The presence of muscle pains and fever may be more in keeping with a viral illness since viral infections commonly cause muscle pain.

The infection is usually self limiting and symptoms normally resolve by 2 weeks at the most, though in the majority by 5 to 7 days.

The change in color of stool is related to the frequency of bowel movements. The normal stool color is due to changes that occur to the bile in the stool as it passes through the intestine.

When stool is passed frequently, bile has no chance to undergo all of these changes.

Treatment: (a) no food till there is a 4 hour window with no symptoms. Food at this stage would worsen diarrhea

When food is restarted, use small amounts of dry foods initially then increase.

(b)Use only fluids to help replace the fluid lost
Oral rehydration solutions or dilute sport drinks such as gatorade may help

It should be diluted to reduce the sugar content which can sometimes worsen diarrhea

These drinks would give back both fluids and electrolytes

(c)probiotics- these would help to restore the normal flora of the intestine and shorten the course

(d)you can continue the loperamide

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
