Brief Answer:
The whole course of Shingles (which is due to chicken pox virus) will take 21 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Welcome to HCM,

The whole course of Shingles (which is due to chicken pox virus) will take 21 days. Caladryl lotion (Calamine and Diphenhydramine) would be ideal for you.

If the irritation is too much, you can also take a drug like Fexofenadine 120 mg once a day, in addition to Gabapentin and Tizanidine that your doctor has rightly prescribed (Please get the necessary prescription for the same from your local physician). Also a high dose of B Complex vitamins will help (for 15 days).

Rarely the condition can become chronic, so do follow up with your doctor.

Please let me know if you've any further queries.
Regards
