Brief Answer:
Heart burn

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing heart burn. You have been on nexium and you are trying to reduce your dose. There are several way to help minimize heart burn.

1. loss weight if over weight
2. Do not eat large meals especially prior to going to sleep or laying down
3. Elevate the head of the bed by 3 inches. allows gravity to keep acid down while sleeping
4. Do not wear tight clothing
5. Antacids like tums or rolaids
6. H2 blockers like tagamet or zantac
7. Reduce alcohol because alcohol is direct irritant to stomach lining
8. Avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen

I hope these suggestions help reduce your heart burn. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
