Brief Answer:
Depending on location, area twisted, and duration about 5-9 on the scale

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The seriousness actually depends on the location (i.e. which part of the colon), but I would say it ranges between 5-9 on a scale of 0-10. Of course sir, surgery is an option but before surgery there are other options that are considered by your doctor depending on the severity as I mentioned earlier.

Let me list some of the treatment options in order of their severity for your reference sir:

+Straightening out the twisted part by a scope (e.g. sigmoidoscope)
+Straightening out the twisted part using a barium enema
+Surgical excision of the twisted part and connecting the ends of the remaining parts of the colon

I hope you find my response helpful and informative sir. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
