Suggest OTC Drugs For Hip Pain

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Jun 2016
Question: I have been diagnosed by a doctor as need hip surgery and am unable to schedule an appointment for the initial meeting with the surgeon until nearly two months from now (small town). The doctor also recommended I continue with my exercise classes; although 'seniors exercise class' pain is increased. Have tried generic Aleve and Tylenol and neither relieve the pain; plus anti-inflammatories are not suitable for my kidney disease. Are there any OTC's which would alleviate the ongoing pain? Prescriptions, although I'm not anxious to use opiods? Other than the two mentioned problems, my health is very good ( rather low dose blood pressure and cholesterol meds) and am quite XXXXXXX and active (the doctor said I am very strong).

Brief Answer:
You may need to stop exercise

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. If you have already advised hip replacement there is no much use of physiotherapy. I would suggest you to avoid exercises for few days. There is no other pain killer apart from paracetamol (aleve) or Tylenol which can be used for you without prescription. You can increase doses of these medications. You can take up to three tablets of paracetamol or two tablets of tramadol. Along with this you can apply hot water fomentation and volini gel local application.
If pain is not controlled then you might need to take hydrocodon. I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
