Sore Throat, Nasal Congestion, Swollen Neck Glands, Fever, Ear Ringing, Cough, Red Spots In Hard Palate. Help

Question: symptoms are sore throat, severe nasal congestion, swollen neck glands fever for two days high of 103F, symptoms began 5 days ago, only symptoms present now are loud ringing in ear, nasal congestion, cough and a new symptom of multiple round red spots and some are holes on hard palate of mouth extending to uvela. im 56 years old and female. throat is not painful now, no difficulty swallowing.

Thanks for your query.

The symptoms you had 5 days back could be due to a viral infection most probably a simple influenza. Viral infections tend to reduce the local immunity and make the upper respiratory tract mucosa prone to bacterial infections.

The red spots and the lesions you mentioned to be present on the palate could be due to the secondary bacterial infection which as usual may also involve the pharynx too. This might lead to pain in the throat in few days from now if not treated with antibiotics.

Do consult an ENT specialist who can examine, confirm the fact and put you on suitable antibiotics.

Meanwhile do gargle with antiseptic solution like CHLORHEXIDINE twice daily after food. This will to the maximum extent prevent progression of the bacterial infection.
