Question: My dad is a paraplegic he went to the doctor on Friday and the nurse in my opinion overextended muscles that he has not used in a very long time. He is now complaining of his left side of his body hurting his knee is swell and he has a slight fever a lot of facial twitching, and also complains of being nauseous. He is moaning like he is in pain but when you ask him he says he is fine.

Brief Answer: Ice fomentation and knee support Detailed Answer: Hi I really appreciate your concern for your father's suffering.After going through your cocern,when a person is bedridden for a prolong period his muscle,ligaments and bones(osteoporosis) become very weak and fragile.They get easily injured on sudden forceful movement. My real worry is he might have suffered hair line fracture around knee that can only be confirmed by x ray.May i know,how is the look of knee is it bruised with discoloration?any pain on doing rotation(inward/outward) of lower limb?just compare the two.Please do reply in follow up query. Meanwhile,you can do ice fomentation with knee supported from all sides with pillow.Take pain killer and drugs for nausea as advised by your doctor,diet rich in calcium and vitamin D.
