Should A Tetanus Injection Be Taken After Getting Scratched By A Crow?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Jul 2014
Question: hi... While I was walking on the street yesterday, a crow flew too close and hit me hard on the head... It probably wasn't a bite, just a scratch from its legs.
There was mild bleeding.. I washed the area with water and applied an antiseptic (Savlon) to the area. I washed my hair with a shampoo later in the day.

Do I need to show it to a doctor or get a tetanus injection?

Brief Answer:
No need to visit.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.

If you have not taken even One dose of TetanusToxoid in last 10 years I were your treating doctor I would suggest a TT injection even though it is a scratch.
If you have already taken, now need not to take TT injection and need not to visit a doctor.

Since it is scratch you need not worry.
Continue apply Savlon.
It will heal within 3-4 days.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
