Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

I can understand your concern.

Blood in the stool could be because of infection. A stool examination will help to identify if there is infection or not. If the baby was on exclusive breast feeding till now (till 6 months of age) infection is unlikely. But it can happen if some other feed is given or water is given to the baby.

Another cause for blood in the stool is allergy. It could occur because of allergy to some food substance. Stool for reducing substance will help to identify if there is lactose intolerance.

Rarely a anal fissure may occur while passing a hard stool. This may be cause of blood in the stool.

So your baby needs examination by your doctor. A anal examination will help to identify the local causes. Some times investigations like stool examination or colonoscopy may be required.

Babies vomit after feeds if they are not burped properly. Your baby should be put on shoulder and tapped at the back to produce a burp after a feed.
If the vomit is of small quantity and baby is gaining weight normally there is nothing to worry about that. If the baby is otherwise normal such babies are called happy spitters. Is your baby gaining weight normally? What is the birth weight like and what is the current weight? Normally a baby will double its weight by 5 months of age.

Hope this helps.
