My Husband Has Had An "itching" Problem For Bout A

default
Posted on Wed, 27 Feb 2019
Question: My husband has had an "itching" problem for bout a year now. A bump will pop out, sting then hurt for awhile. When I itch, it feels like there is something that wants to come out of my body from the inside. The dermatologist has given me steroidal creams and suggested lotions for eczema. They don't stop what is happening...it continues to feel like something is trying to come out of my body from the inside and the itching is so intense. Scratching offers no relief.

Brief Answer:
Pruritus, go for lab tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query.
Your husband seems to be having pruritus.
It can occur due to systemic diseases like thyroid disorder, anemia, polycythemia, liver and kidney problems and blood allergy,
I would recommend you to go for complete blood count, thyroid function tests, liver and kidney function tests and serum IgE levels to find out the cause of his problem.
Meanwhile I would recommend him to take antihistaminic like tablet cetrizine 10 mg twice daily for 2 weeks.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to answer any further queries.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Another thing I forgot to mention. I was diagnosed with neuropathy about 10 years ago, and have been taking a natural product called nerve renew that is packed with vitamin B's and alpha lapoic acid. It has helped alot, but I think things have just gotten worse. I know after some research a person can acquire a neurological itch. I thought the dr's were right in saying eczema but after everthing I have tried and it still feels like an "internal" itch, the neuropathy seems like that is what is going on. I had tried gabapentin years ago and I just wanted to sleep, which was impossible for me since I also had to work. Is this a possibility and if so, should I see a specialist?
