My Father Has Been Suffering From Chronic Cough For Last
Question: My father has been suffering from chronic cough for last few years . Talking cough syrup helps to reduce the problem. But the problem occurs frequently. Recently his family doctor given advice for lung CT scan and suggested to consult with a plumologist but due to covid pandemic he fails to consult physically with a specialist. His age is now 74 years and finds little bit breathing problem due to constant cough. I seek your advice and treatment . If necessary I will send the CT report. Waiting for your valuable advice.

He is having right middle lobe bronchiectesis.
It is kind of damaged part of lung.
It can not be cured.
So he will have cough, expectoration, breathlessness lifelong and he has to take medicines for lifelong.
Any smoking habit?
Any history of Tuberculosis or pneumonia in the past?

Sir, he was addicted by smoking for 30 years from 1966 to 2996 but thereafter he totally stopped. He is also non alcoholic. Presently he is not talking any medicine for cough relief.
He has no tuberculosis and preumonea. He had done blood test for tuberculosis. I am sending the report too.

I have two query
Whether he has to take these medicines for life long regularly or for a particular period. Can he right now do his regular home activities.
Sir, actually we are avoiding to go for lab testing because of covid 19. But if the PFT test is very important for your diagnosis we will try to go. otherwise we want to go after talking vaccine.
