Question: I ate sushi for dinner last night. Today, I have loose stool smelling like fish. Is what I ate the cause?

A sudden change in color or smell of stool is likely to be due to something taken in the diet. The change you have mentioned is not worrisome and is likely to be due to the sushi you ate. You can self monitor your stool for next 3-4 days for it to return back to its normal texture and smell.
In case there is associated fever, vomiting, frequent watery stools with pain abdomen then food poisoning or gastroenteritis needs to be considered.
