Brief Answer:
Cellphone use does not cause cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
The US FDA says that "studies reporting biological changes associated with radiofrequency energy have failed to be replicated and that the majority of human epidemiologic studies have failed to show a relationship between exposure to radiofrequency energy from cell phones and health problems."

This means that with present day evidence, there is no significant harm associated with cell phone use. Radiation is in cell phones is non ionising and in the form of radiofrequency and this has not been proven to be cancer related.

However, cell phone use can cause very slight heating of the brain on the side you use the phone. This is the same principle as microwave ovens. Medical research shows that a recent study showed that when people used a cell phone for 50 minutes, brain tissues on the same side of the head as the phone’s antenna metabolized more glucose than did tissues on the opposite side of the brain. The researchers noted that the results are preliminary, and possible health outcomes from this increase in glucose metabolism are still unknown.

If you do not speak longer at a stretch on your phone then there is no need to worry. Broken screen will not matter because radiation is from the antenna and has nothing to do with the screen.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
