Posted on Thu, 2 Mar 2017
Question: Hi. My partner has developed shingles. I have never had chicken pox. However ironically I got the first dose of the chicken pox vaccine just before Christmas. What is the likelihood of me contracting chicken pox from the shingles if I have not has the 2nd vaccine yet, ?

Brief Answer:
85% protective!

Detailed Answer:
HI,

85% of persons who have received only a single dose of shingle vaccine are protected. This means there is still a 15% probability that you are not protected. I suggest you get this second dose as soon as possible.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.

Kind regards!
