Is Severe Pain In Right Knee After A Fall Normal?

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Jun 2016
Question: Is this amount of pain normal for a fall? I was walking to my roomand fell over a piece of a book case. I got a cut on my right knee and left shin. It hurt alot do i took tramadol 100mg. If helped enough i could get some sleep. I woke up in more pain and went to get a piece of bread and advil. Its is excruciating to walk. I feel most pain from my shin to my thigh on the right and my knee on the left. I know some pain is to be expected. I wasn't expecting this much. There is a big bruise on my right thigh. There was some swelling around the knee cut it went down. Nothing but the scrape on the shin that i could tell. But i feel pain in my low back as well and my hips. Is this normal for this much pain after a fall? What should i do? Whats going on with me?

Brief Answer:
Take Tylenol and Ibuprofen!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain. It is not uncommon to feel pain after a fall. However, i will want to use Tylenol and IBuprofen for at least three days on regular doses of 1000mg and 600mg thrice daily, respectively. If this fails to resolve the pains, then we should follow up with more testing.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, keep me posted about your pain.

Brief Answer:
Posisble but unlikley at this time!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

While a fracture is a possibility, the fact that you can still walk on this leg makes it unlikely. I will suggest that you go ahead and try these measures and we will get an x-ray should you fail to improve significantly.

I wish you well.

Hi so one lf the parts i injured was my shin. The scrape is still oozing, 2 days later and its very painful. Like anybody touches it or brushes it, it hurts like crazy. I have been icing i. Did i bruise the tibia or something? Is that normal for a scrape? Second i have a huge bruise on my thigh as well it took a while for it to show but its been swollen and now purple and blue. Why is it swollen still? What should i do about the shin scrape and pain. If there is bruising i can't see it but i feel it. I change the bandage twice day and apply neosporin because its still oozing and a little bloody. Just want to make sure there is nothing to worry about.
