Brief Answer:

Pneumonia needs antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Pneumonia is caused by infection mostly bacterial infection.

And treatment of pneumonia is antibiotics.
For severe infection, antibiotics are given through intravenous route (IV).

Intravenous antibiotics work rapidly and more effectively.

So when patient is having severe pneumonia and critically ill like hypotension, need ventilator support etc then, better to give antibiotics through iv route.

Sometimes oral food and water are also restricted if patient's sensorium is not good or possibility of aspiration pneumonia is there.

So better to follow doctor's advice.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing good health to your mother in law.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:

Breathing tube is must if patient is critically ill.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

She is having respiratory rate of 35 which is very high.
She is also having low oxygen saturation.
She is still having pneumonia. So her breathing system is compromised due to pneumonia.
And she needs support in breathing.
And die thus mechanical ventilation is required. And for this breathing tube should be placed.
So better to follow doctor's advice Because she is critically ill.
Risks fir all these are very high. Weaning difficulty, barotrauma, secondary infection, tracheostomy etc are complications of this.
But at present, breathing tube and mechanical ventilation are life saving for her and hence it should be done.
What about ovarian mass?
Is it malignant looking?

Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing good health to your mother in law.
Thanks.
