Is Radiation Therapy Advisable When PSA Is 0.2?
Question: On 14th February 2014, my father is diagnosed to have "Prostate Cancer". After getting opening with doctors, my father went through laparoscopic surgery on 28th April 2014. Surgery is successful with bit of complications like not able to control on urine during day time when he walks/sits down. He got full control while sleep.
Currently, since 3 months is over, doctor is saying to get radiation therapy for 6 and half weeks of radiation is required when his PSA test level is within limit (.2)
Q1 : Should we go through radiation therapy ?
Q2 : If yes, then what are the chances of getting fully cure ?
I am attaching reports for references.

His prostate cancer is in localized state now and has not spread to distant organs.
I would advise you to take radiation therapy along with hormonal therapy.

Q3 : What parameter is significant in determining/concluding for cancer/prostate cancer : i) PSA test or ii) Histopythology report.
Currently, my father does not have any issue in passing urine but only problem is not having control on urine in certain cases. However, I heard that radiation therapy leads to killing good cells either which can cause blood in urine, hair loss , vomiting etc. Is there any prevention which can be done.
Q4 : Can you please brief me about IMRT radiation therapy ? How does it cures patient who is suffering from cancer.

Radiation therapy can only cause vomiting which can be prevented by antiemetics
It does not cause blood in urine or hair loss
Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) uses multiple small photon or proton beams of varying intensities to precisely irradiate a tumor.
It manipulates photon and proton beams of radiation to conform to the shape of a tumor thereby killing the cancer cells.
The radiation intensity of each beam is controlled and the beam shape changes throughout each treatment
The goal of IMRT is to conform the radiation dose to the target and to avoid or reduce exposure of healthy tissue to limit the side effects of treatment.
