Is Pregnancy Possible Through Protected Sex?

Posted on Wed, 14 Oct 2015
Question: The other night, I was intimate with someone. He finished inside of the condom, but when he pulled out, he was like .. "did it break" , I looked at it and it was still in tact. But I am seriously freaking out because I don't want to get pregnant. I AM on the pill, sometimes I miss the time to take it by an hour but I ALWAYS remember to take it. My actual question is... Do you ovulate at all while on the pill?? I am just freaking out internally and I am not sure if I should invest in a Plan B pill. I read that I can take it up to 5 days after. I just need some advice....

Brief Answer:
NO chance of pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm ,
Well if you have had protected intercourse and there was no tear in the condom and moreover you have been on regular contraceptive pills, no matter if delayed intake by an hour, your ovulation shall be prevented and hence the chances of pregnancy are minimal. You need not take a PLAN-B pill.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
In your case, as you were already on the daily contraceptive pill and have been regular with it for last 2 weeks or more, then the chances of ovulation are negated and hence the chances of pregnancy even. But if you are not sure and believe that you may have missed your pills someday off and on , then it would be on a safer side to take PLAN B pill within 72 hrs of intercourse, to disallow fertilisation by increasing tubal motility and also allowing the endometrium to be shed in next 5-7 days which shall confirm that you are pregnancy safe then.
As the condom tear is doubtful and so is your pill intake , i feel that you should take the PLAN b pill today and wait for the withdrawal bleed to start in next 5-7 days.
The side effect is generally delayed and scantier next few periods and the date of withdrawal bleed shall become your fresh LMP hence, thereby changing your cycle dates completely.
Regards
