Posted on Fri, 1 Jul 2016
Question: hi my baby is 5 weeks old..i was giving him similac advance and then i switched to similac alimentum..one of my friend recommended that its good..but since he started taking similac alimentum he is having green poop..n he does not enjoy the formula..he drinks it because he has to..can i go back to my old formula..is that be a problem? i actually changed it because he had rash on his face but i am not sure if it was because of the similac advance or due to the excessive hot weather..but this is also true after taking similac alimentum the rash was getting better..i still see rash on his face and chest sometimes..so what should i do now..he is not vomiting or spiting up..overall a happy baby so far..

Brief Answer:
Should not be a problem

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health care magic.

You can switch back to your previous formula and that should not be a problem. Similar Alimentum is a hydrolysed formula. So, the ingredients are easier to digest and less allergenic but that also makes it worse in taste (almost like no taste at all). It is only in case of major problems (unlikely) that you need to switch back again.

Brief Answer:
Similac Advance is a good formula and can be given.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Similac Advance is a good formula and there should not be a problem on giving it. The child would probably like the taste and therefore take proper amount of feeds. You need not worry.
