Is It Safe To Switch From Bystolic To Lisinopril For High BP?
Question: I am now taking 5 mg Bystolic once daily. For the previous 20 years I was on lisinopril. Bystolic is not lowering my blood pressure. Can I just return to lisinopril today and stop Bystolic without potentially causing an issue?

May be best to use an alternative to both of these since the lisinopril causes dry cough or alternatively your doctor can add another medication to the bystolic.
Lisinopril is in the family of drugs called ACE inhibitors. One of the most common side effects is the dry cough that you mentioned.
The cough does not improve.
There are a number of other blood pressure medications that can be used.
Persons who need a drug similar to the ACE meds (such as lisinopril) can use an ARB.
These are similar to lisinopril and the other members of this family but do not cause cough. Eg includes candesartan, atacand, diovan, micardis
There are also a wide range of other BP meds
Summary: (1) if no control then you can switch but the cough will restart and will not stop
