Progesterone tablets to postpone periods should ideally be taken 5 days prior to your expected date of mensus. If you have started bleeding now, it would be of no use to take the tablets any further.

No, one tablet of norethisterone 5mg will not cause any harmful effects for you. The dosage is in minute amounts and hence, will not have any residual effects. The only effects if you may notice will be a slight change in the color of the blood and its flow, or passage of few blood clots, and will surely not have any long term effects.

Regesterone 5mg tablet contains Norethisterone which is a synthetic hormone of progesterone. I had earlier just mentioned the generic name of the drug.
It is quite normal for the periods to last from 5-7 days. But if you seem to have the following symptoms, I would advice you to consult with a gynaecologist for proper local examination,
- excessive flow along with passage of clots, increased abdominal pain, has to change pads 1-2 times at night.
- bleeding lasting for more than a week
- not able to pursue daily activities
If no underlying organic cause is found on examination, you may be advised with hormonal pills which will regulate the cycles and the amount of flow.
Also,it is normal for women to experience some amounts of vaginal discharge. But if you have the following symptoms, it demands treatment:
- increased abdominal pain during discharge
- discharge associated with fishy smell or odour, white milky color, itching over the vaginal region, fever.
- any noticeable weight loss or tiredness.
