Is It Normal To Have Irritation In Throat While Suffering From Gastritis?

default
Posted on Thu, 21 May 2015
Question: I have had gastritis and lpr for over 15 years.
endoscopy every 3 years( by my own request dr says no need to repeat). I have seen ENT many times. my last endoscopy and scope by gastro and then of throat by ent was about 15 months ago. Both noticed slight irritation but said nothing looked bad and my biopsy came back normal again(no barrettes esophagus).
I often have regurgitation and throat feels irritated on left side mainly but if reflux is really flaring i feel it even on right and sometimes the roof of my mouth.
Sometimes I will notice a lymph node will feel slightly tender when throat feels like its inflamed. Ive had some level of all these symptoms for many years and it seems to flare up and down.
Is this common( not GERD and LPR) but irritation in mouth and throat, tender lymph node(never swollen), etc..?
Don't want to keep running to doctor paying for evaluations and scopes because of anxiety when they tell me I don't need them. Ive been doing that since this all started.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about...very common because of acid reflux

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting your question to HCM.

From what you are describing...yes, it is common and normal symptoms to have in people who are getting treated for GERD. -Because of reflux acid, the throat gets irritatated and the inflamation causes the tenderness of the lymphonodes.
The best test to diagnose something serious is the endoscopy, and you have done it even more frequently then necessary.
Keep taking your medicines, and taking care of a healthy diet.

Hope this helps.
Let me know if you need any more clarifications. I will be happy to answer.
