Is It Alright To Take 60mg Of Dexilant For Acid Reflux?

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Jun 2015
Question: My doseage of DExilant has been doubled by my Doctor. I am now taking a 60 mg pill twice a day. That is way
above your recommended dosa. Is that okay? I have been on Dexilant for about 5 years now . One 60 mg pill
per day which did a great job. When I started getting acid reflux on occasion during the night, the Doctor
doubled the dose to 2 60mg pills per day. Does that sound okay with you?

Brief Answer:
It's too high. Please, ask him why he has you on twice the recommended dose

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this dosage. I have reviewed your treatment and for real it is too high. I cannot understand why he has you on such a high dose. My recommendation is that you make him understand this seems too high so that he can address the situation upfront.

Toxicity is rare with this medication but higher doses are of very little additional benefits. Confront your physician upfront on this for answers and justifications.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
