Brief Answer:
Not an emergency, but would like to learn about the details, pls reply

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Chest pain is listed as a side effect of the steroid (prednisone), and although is not a serious complication.

I would also like to ask:

1. The prednisone was prescribed in tablet form?

2. In your history you mentioned taking 3 tablets after the chest pain, were these tablets also prednisone or another medication?

3. If it was another medication, please mention which one?

4. And if it was prednisone itself, then please let me know how you felt after taking the other 3 tablets?

I do also recommend taking the medication after a light meal, and water so that your stomach mucosa doesn't get irritated by the medication itself. I look forward to hearing from you sir, so please do not hesitate to write to me anytime, I am here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Need to wait and watch, for now nothing to be done, continue prescription

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Thank you for that information.

So the three tablets of prednisone were all taken at once and then the chest pain started. The chest pain here could be due to the respiratory infection you have as well, so let us wait and watch.

If you experience chest pain again:

A. Without taking the prednisone then the chest pain must be related to the respiratory infection you have

B. If you are advised another dose of prednisone, and you experience chest pain after taking it, then report to your doctor for further management

I hope this helps, and I also hope you do not experience any kind of chest pain again. But if at all you experience any undesired symptoms, please do write to me and I shall be glad to help.

Best wishes.
