Is Bump On Penis Shaft A Symptom Of HPV Or STD?

Question: thank you in advance for taking the time with my question. i have recently had a small string of bad decisions where sexual contact was involved. the first, i possibly had unprotected genital contact with a woman, but unfortunately we were both so drunk, that neither of us could recall much of that night. probably definitely no penetration. shortly after that, i received an erotic massage. there was absolutely no genital contact, but the place seemed kind of dirty, really bad decision. anyhow, it's been almost 2 weeks since those occurrences, which were about a day apart from each other. i recently noticed a single small hard flesh colored bump on the shaft of my penis. it's a little hard to the touch, it doesn't hurt, it isn't an open lesion, and it isn't cauliflower shaped. but could this still be a sign of HPV or any other symptom of a STD? obviously i'm kind of freaked out. psychologically it's messing with me. i do not have insurance, but i was able to make a doctor's appointment with a low cost clinic in about a week to get checked out. in the mean time, i won't be able to stop thinking about it. thanks again, hope to hear an answer.

Brief Answer: Unlikely to be HPV related Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear about this flesh colored bump. I understand you have made some decisions that you would not want to repeat. We cannot reverse what happened but, you can choose not to find yourself in similar situations in future. I have reviewed the picture. Even without the picture, there is just no possibility that HPV can produce any sort of wart within 2weeks. It is just not a possibility. The bump on this picture is non specific and represents common bumps that can be found any where on the body. These originate within the skin and mostly related to the sweat and oil producing glands. It is a mere coincidence that this appeared around the same period when you have made some decisions that you regret. This bump is not HPV, is not Herpes, is not Syphilis, it is unlikely to be any form of STD. Happy you would be going in for evaluation but I think it is not too necessary if you don't have the funds now. Wait a little more and only go in should something more concerning arises. In all, this is nothing to get too worried about. More patience is needed and a doctor's visit not too mandatory right now. Have a relaxed mind and take proper care not to regret similar decisions in future. I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information is need be. Dr. Ivo, MD

Dr. Ivo, Thank you very much for your response. I am relieved to hear that this is probably not anything serious. For what you believe this bump to be, how long should i expect it to be there? do you have any recommendations on any over the counter creams to help speed up the recovery of the skin? I will still see a physician regarding the disclaimer of this site, just to see someone in person and get a full assessment. But thank you very much for your answer, it relieves some stress from my mind.

Brief Answer: My attitude: Watch and do nothing unless otherwise Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I will generally not recommend that you start messing with it by using any creams. Just observe it and let it be. If it should progress to something else, then at that time we would be able to have more arguments to guide us at choosing one cream or product over the other.. Foe now, this would be entirely guess work and not a good way to practice medicine. My approach would be to ignore it and let it go its normal cause. With 1-2weeks, this should be over unless something else comes up. Regard it in a way like a solitary acne lesion! Great to know you would be making the visit as planned. Let me hear what your doctor thinks after the visit. Thanks for the updates. I wish you well. Feel free to keep going if more insights are needed. Dr. Ivo, MD.

Ok thank you very much. One last thing, do you think that my recent sexual contact could be the reason why this has showed up on my body? I've never ever had anything even close to this. Thanks again for your previous answers. Take care.

Brief Answer: Very unlikely Detailed Answer: Hi and thanks for following up. I have seen several types and different presentation of STD's. This is no way represents any of them . Unless some more information arises, I will not think this is related to the most recent sexual contacts. I wish you well. All the best and take care and hope all gets resolved earlier than later.
