Is An ALT Level Of 55 A Cause Of Concern?
Question: I HAD MY BLOOD WORK DONE FOR MY YEARLY PHIYSICAL AND MY ALT READING WAS 55 SHOULD I BE CONCERNED. I AM 60 YEARS OLD AND THE MORNING OF MY BLOOD WORK I DID RUN ABOUT FOUR MILES I AM VERY BIG INTO RUNNING.

Dr Hudda, The sight which I can read my blood work report does not allow me to upload those reports. I can tell you that all other test were in the normal range with my total cholesterol reading being 147. Also my alt reading last year was in the mid 40's. Thanks for your response, XXXXXXX

Your cholesterol report is normal you need not to worry, as such ALT is also within normal range, since it has increased from previous report so I would advise you to get an ultrasound done whenever you go to the doctor.
Meanwhile Avoid alcohol or smoking if you are having it
You are already exercising so continue it
Have lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and dietary fibers in your diet
Have plenty of fluid intake.
