Is HIV Test Done 60 Days After Exposure Conclusive?
Have you seen people test negative after 60 days and then positive after 90 days, and do you have any theories on why a person might take longer to have a positive test result.
Thank you

Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic. I have gone through the details and can make out your anxiety.
It depends on the test done.If it is HIV RNA/DNA PCR the results will be same even after 60 or 90 days.So it will remain same.If these tests were done ,it will come negative after 90 days too.
Usually The tests done detect antibodies against HIV . These can be formed as early as 2 weeks post exposure. Usually it will appear in all individuals by 2- 6 weeks. In few individuals with cancer, on immunotherapy/ steroids it can be delayed until 3 months. In them it can give delayed positive results.
So the window period considered is until 3 months post exposure.
The chances of test results coming positive later after 3 months is nil, if you do not come under any such conditions
But to be clear of anxiety it is better to go for test after 3 months.
You can get back for any clarification.

Hi
Thank you for follow up query.Thank you for wishes. We are pleased that it was helpful.
Do not worry about cancer or other conditions. It would have manifested itself ,if present in any site. Both in early stages will not affect the test results. The test would have come positive, as cancer can suppress the immune system in later stages.
Forget about the episode for now .Relax, do exercises, get involved in activities of your interest.
To relieve your anxiety go for HIV 1&2 antibodies test after 3 months.
You can get back for any clarification.
