Question: Hello , I am 30 year old male , with normal body weight I mean I am.not obese , from last Monday my body is loosing balance , I have this strange feeling for reeling sensation or head being thrown away or constantly being pulled towards one side , I am not able to walk in straight line with out conscious effort .
I have run a CBC , and RBS all are normal , it's a strange kind of throbbing sensation in the head all time and I feel I will fall down , but I actually don't.
I don't have head ache or fever or any other associated symptoms
My vision is so far normal and doesnt blur or fade out
My hearing is also normal no change.
I consulted a physician , he asked me to wait for week days and see if things will improve .
But they are not improving they are same ,
I constantly feel that imbalance state and throbbing sensation at the posterior part of head above neck .
Many are telling it can be cancer of brain
Can you tell me what could be the most probable diagnosis.
Internet also says it's brain cancer
How long will I live and treatment options.
And some say even in thyroid or ear problems also this can happen kindly help

Brief Answer:
Not something ominous. May take a few weeks to resolve.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone carefully through your query. It seems that you are suffering from Benign Positional Paroxysmal Vertigo (BPPV). It is a viral condition that affects the balance organ of our inner ear. I do not think that it is due to something ominous like brain cancer and that you have a very short duration to live. If apprehensive you can get an MRI of brain done to rule out brain cancer but I am not worried about it. You can get your blood TSH checked to rule out any thyroid condition but they do not present like this.

The internet does not provide any diagnosis. It just provides you some data. You need to know how to process data. Doctors need tens of years to learn to process such data. It is no wonder that you would not be able to process the data you procure from the internet.

Treatment will be supportive. You can benefit by taking Vertin (betahistine) 16 mg tablet twice or thrice daily or if needed. Your doctor has correctly indicated that it is likely to improve over the next few weeks before it eventually goes away.

Feel free to write back.

Thank you doctor , as you said it might be a infection in ear as in my left ear there is discomfort , it is not paining but there is something that is wrong which I can sense , and it's only in left ear and the portion above the neck region of left part of brain .
Doctor what are the symptoms of brain cancers , is vision loss common in brain cancers ?
I find automatic twitching of muscles also some times.
As it is viral , should I wait for body to respond or is there anything I can do about it ?
If a person loses vision in brain tumors can it be restored ??
I am breaking down emotionally due to this , as I am getting all negative thoughts of having a tumor in head etc.
Kindly suggest me something which will relieve me from this pain.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I would insist you to take steam inhalation (through nose and mouth). It should relieve the discomfort in your ear.

I do not think that you need to worry about brain cancer. This is a lay man's term and there can be many variants. The presentation will vary with the variant and I do not think that you need to bother about it.

Please mention if you have vision loss, and if so, please elaborate on it. If you do not have it, just do not bother to correlate.

I have tried to reassure you that you need not worry about brain cancer. However, if my words cannot assure you, you need to get an MRI of brain done. It will help in ruling out brain cancer.

Feel free to write back.

Hello sir ,
I underwent an MRI and the report says there is no evidence of acute infarct , hemorrhage or space occupying mass lesion
MRA shows attenuated flow in the cavernous and supraclinoid portion of right ICA and M2 Segments of left middle cerebral artery.
Sir kindly tell what is this exactly and treatment options and care to be taken ?
Is it life threatening? Or manageable
Kindly suggest some treatment options on the condition and it is also mention hypoplastic left vertebral artery .
What does that mean and what treatment for that sir.kindly tell sir is it threatening

Brief Answer:
Not alarming

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the update. The result is not alarming or life threatening and is unrelated to any cancer. It is manageable. However, you cannot do anything about the hypoplastic left vertebral artery which you are having ever since birth. Management is supportive for the symptoms present.
