How To Terminate Pregnancy?

Question: My wife is 29 years old and we have 1.5 years kid. My wife is now 6 week pregnant and we don't want to continue with this. Please suggest the best procedure for abortion at this stage. Whether surgical method is better? Please explain the surgical procedure.

At 6 weeks you dont need surgical procedure.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS:

1. First get an ultrasound scan done by gynecologist to check if it is normal pregnancy and not ectopic pregnancy.

2. Once normal pregnancy is confirmed doctor will give you combination tablets for inducing abortion.

3. You can take those medicines and see doctor after one week to confirm if abortion is complete

I heard that with medicine it leads to heavy bleeding and there may be some complication. Please suggest how safe is surgical method and recovery time. Whether there is any possibility of bleeding after surgical method. is it required to do full anesthesia or partial.

Bleeding is there in both medical as well as surgical termination. Infact surgical termination has more complications.

Surgical termination involves full anesthesia. recovery time is 2 hours approximately.

Also I heard that under medical abortion its painful during the bleeding period. How long that period lasts. Also is there possibility that some part of pregnancy is not totally removed after medicine and bleeding prolongs until uterus is cleaned up further. Please guide.

surgical abortion is possible under ectopic pregnancy also if it is not so sure from USG scan?

USG report says "possibility of early intrauterine gestation sac of 4 weeks. Foetal pole not identified". Does this means it is not yet sure whether its normal pregnancy or ectopic?

Hi

Ultrasound report seems to be wrong as there should have been clear pregnancy on ultrasound scan. Hence I suggest you get another transvaginal ultrasound scan done to confirm intrauterine or ectopic pregnancy.

Surgical abortion cannot be performed in ectopic pregnancy.

Medical abortion has pain for about a day.

As of now get ultrasound scan done soon and send report as present report seems to be wrong.

I am writing the report briefly here -

Gravid uterus is antererted, slightly bulky , normal in shape, outline, position. Small hypo echoic lesion measuring 12.6x13.6 mm is seen in anterior uterine wall within myometrium. Nabothian cyst is seen in cervix.

Single intra uterine gestational sac is seen with smooth outline.

Single intrauterine gestational sac with maturity less than 5 weeks without visible fetal node. Anterior intramural seeding myoma. Nabothian cyst in cervix. Corpus luteal cyst in right ovary.

My physician suggest following medicines -

3 Mifepristone tab followed by 4 Misoprost 200 tab after 48 hours

Please also suggest if these medicines are safe for breast feeding period.

These tablets are going to cause vomiting and pain abdomen. These are difficult to control as additional drugs will cause more problem and might reduce efficiency of mifepristone itself.
