Question: Could you please let me know the tips to have sound and undisturbed sleep at night ?

Brief Answer: donot sleep in day time and more.. Detailed Answer: Hello, Provided there is no recent history of drug abuse or acute stress, the following measures help in sleeping nicely- 1. Try to avoid taking any nap/ lying down in day time 2. Fix timings of going to sleep and getting up. If you are not able to fall asleep after 10-20min of going to bed, get up and read a book ( donot see tv or work on computer) 3. avoid tea/ coffee/ cold drinks after 4-5pm 4. even if you are unable to sleep at night, try to stay awake the next day and then it becomes easy to fall asleep at night 5. milk helps in sleeping, has serotonin 6. donot see watch/ time piece when you cannot sleep, this adds stress in mind and sleeping becomes further difficult. 7. soaking feet in XXXXXXX warm water for 10-15min prior to going bed or a head message helps in falling asleep 8. even bath with XXXXXXX warm water at night helps Hope the tips are useful for you Do ask more questions for clarification Dr. Manisha Gopal MD Psychiatry
