Brief Answer: REM sleep is part of normal sleep. Detailed Answer: Hi I think, in first question, you are showing some inferiority complex due to your illness. There is no need to feel or do anything. Anyone can have depression in his or her life, so there is no need to feel ashamed for that. Just live your life in normal way. There are two phase of sleep REM or Non REM sleep. Normally, while sleeping first non-rem sleep occurs and 45 min later rem sleep, but in depression, there is shortening of the time from sleep onset to the appearance of the first REM period. This shorting leads to sleep disturbance. Normally during sleep, body movement or dreams etc occur in REM sleep. In that case, solution is sleeping pills or treatment of depression. There is nothing to worry about these phase of sleep. Sometime, REM sleep latency also decreases during anxiety and it leads to sleep disturbance. Movement issue may be due to fatigue. It would improve with time or you can take multivitamin. You can also take Nexfolin. It contains L-Methylfolate Calcium, Methylcobalamin and acetylcysteine, which belongs to the class of Vitamins and Minerals. It helps to reduce the chances of neuropathy and increase the chances of recovery. Depression is characterized by low mood, sleep disturbance, anxiety symptoms, decrease appetite, pessimistic thoughts, decrease interaction or sexual desire, while in bipolar disorder, patient may have manic symptoms which is characterized by over-talkativeness, sleep disturbance, over spending, increase appetite, euphoric mood, over grooming or grandiose ideas etc. Ophthalmologists use lens to check interior part of eye. There is nothing harm in it, it is the usual procedure. In case, you have more query, you can ask. Regards Dr. Abhishek Kapoor Psychiatrist
