Brief Answer:
More fluids, less salt

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Calcium Oxalate stones are probably the commonest stones in most parts of the world, and often have a tendency to recur. In patients who form stones more frequently than say, once a year, or those with family history of kidney stones, or those who have started forming stones early in childhood, or those whose kidneys are at a risk due to previous kidney damage, we suggest a metabolic evaluation where a 24 hour urine collection is measured for amount of calcium, uric acid, oxalate and inhibitors of stones like citrate based on which definite guidelines can be issued. Not all patients need such an extensive evaluation and general guidelines easily help them in avoiding recurrence.
The most important of these recommendations is to ensure a fluid intake of over 3-4 litres per day. You should be able to pass urine 6-8 times in a day, and the urine that you void should be as colourless as possible which would mean you are not getting dehydrated.
Salt should be restricted to as low as possible.
You can continue to take as much calcium as possible in diet such as with milk / yoghurt /cheeses but avoid calcium supplementation tablets.
Try to avoid grapefruit juice or too much of tea, coffee, spinach, rhubarb, wheat XXXXXXX nuts as these are likely to be high source of oxalate. However, you need not stop them altogether.
I do recommend some patients to take what we call Potassium Citrate with Magnesium and B6 vitamins in selected patients but that would happen in your case only if I can be sure your kidneys have no infection.
Hope I have been able to help you. Please follow these recommendations, and if the stones are recurring or getting larger, we can have a more specific discussion.
All the best wishes.

Brief Answer:
restrict red meat

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
It look like my last answer went missing, hence the delay.
You are right in that we do suggest reduction of red meat in diet, while not completely avoiding it altogether. Fish should be fine, chicken breast is OK, while mutton, beef, pork is ideally restricted to less than 2 oz per day. Egg yolk is not a good idea while egg whites are perfectly acceptable. You should also encourage the rest of your family to follow a similar diet as well. This helps keep the other diseases at bay.
To answer your second question, orange juice is a better idea than lemon juice which has more vit c and could get converted to oxalate which should be had in as less quantities as possible.
Hope I have been able to clarify your doubts.
Regards.
