Question: I gave my 6 month old my 2 year old panadol dosage by accident? So my youngest daughter normally has 1.5 ml and my older daughter has 1.9 mls, I rang poisions helpline but just want reassurance that she will be okay?

Brief Answer:
It is safe, need not worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am Dr Suresh K Yadav MD (paediatrics), I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

What I understand from your question is that instead of 1.5 ml panadol (As per my knowledge it contains paracetamol or acetaminophen) you gave 1.9 ml dose. You need not worry, paracetamol is very safe drug having very large safety margin. One extra dose is not going to cause any harm. Just reduce next dose so total dose in 24 hours is in prescribed limits. If you can provide me weight of your baby and also strength of medicine paracetamol (also called acetaminophen) used, I can better answer you.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Take care
