default
Posted on Wed, 21 Sep 2016
Question: Hi ,
I was detected with dengue 12 days back. Now there is no other symptoms but am facing a problem of head spinning for last 4 days, when I'm lying down and changing my head position towards right. Also while bending in front I felt the same problem of head spin. I'm really surprised why this problem arose suddenly!
Is it natural after dengue or something else ?? Kindly help

Hi,
Thank you for query.

Post dengue infection you will have generalised weakness and fatigue atleast for 1 month. Giddiness can occur on & off due to weakness.

Take plenty of fluids, Boiled vegetables,Fruits especially kiwi and papaya.
Take C.Becosules once daily for 15 days.

My concern is why are you takeing Tab bilefix 300?
it is given for hepatic disorders, cirrhosis.

Get back to me if any query.

Dr VSK

When I was detected with dengue my doctor asked to do LFT also. It showed SGPT 509 and SGOT 331 U/L. He told it is not normal and advised to take Bilefix300 .

Can this head spinning be a side effect of this drug ?

Hi,
Thank you for query.

Your liver enzymes are quite high. Get and ultrasound abdomen,HBSAg done.
Giddiness is not because of drug.
Drink plenty of fluids at least 4-5 litres per days.
Elevated liver enzymes lead to giddiness quite often.
Avoid alcohol,red meat if any.

Get back if any query.

Hi doc,

Thanks a lot.

Just one question to ask. I have tested LFT twice after dengue detection.

On 18 th August (1st test )SGPT was 38 and SGOT 60 U/L.

on 26 th August (2nd test ) SGPT was 509 and SGOT 331 U/L

in between 8 days , i see a huge change in test report. Does it happen in dengue?

Or there might be a mistake in report ? As both were done from different labs

Or anything else you observe?

Please help

Hi,
Thank you for follow up.

Some times even antibiotics given during infection can cause liver enzymes elevated.
Check liver function test once again next week in a good lab.
Get it done with empty stomach.
Have you done Ultrasound abdomen during dengue infection?
