Brief Answer:
opening starts the moment abscess opens up or is operated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Male/30 - unable to open the jaw - have an abscess - taking medicines for 3 days - Wants to know how long will take to open the mouth ...

Please give a few additional points:
Where is the abscess exactly? - Tonsil, inside mouth or outside?
Which medications are you taking?
Is there associated fever and/or chills?

Usually the mouth opening start improving the moment the abscess is drained/opened up. And if properly treated the mouth should open fully within 3-7 days...

I hope this answer helps you, please give feedback so that we can discuss further.

Brief Answer:
Ibuprofen helps

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Noted that the abscess is at lower right side at the last molar.
Percocet will help pain alone and Keflex being an antibiotic helps control the infection.
I would advise you the following:
- Add on an anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen if it suits you.Helps to reduce pain and swelling.
- Continue salt water gargles.
