Posted on Fri, 8 Jul 2016
Question: Ramapril vs Entresto?...I am taking Ramapril currently (for nine years)...my blood pressure is good and my blood tests have been good. My doctor suggested changing to Entresto. I wish to stay on Ramapril as it has been working...your suggestion? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
sacubitril/valsartan is better if you have low EF /cHF

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

YOu had not given any previous history of hospitalization, heart failure or latest ECHO report. What is the ejection fraction on the latest report.
Definitely Entresto is a new drug and mostly used to reduce the heart failure rates and reduce hospitalization in patients with chronic heart failure. It has its own merits when compared to Ramipril.
Entresto is currently the drug of choice for people with low ejection fraction and with chronic heart failure.
I think you can discuss with your doctor that you are not comfortable. Let me say that your decision is final, while you listen to benefits and affects of both the drugs.
I will wait if you have more questions/information.

All the best.
