How Can Severe Tooth Decay In A Child Be Treated?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Jun 2017
Question: My son, aged 5, has developed a very small decay in his front two teeth (upper jaw incisors). Should I ignore it as milk teeth are bound to fall OR should I get a filling done? It is an onset of decay - not very big yet.

Brief Answer:
Get the teeth filled.

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Thanks for the query..

First of all you you should that upper incisors fall by the age of 6-7 years.
Secondly the milk teeth are delicate and less calcified, so if there is a decay it will progress rapidly.
Therefore as your son is 5 years of age, he still has another one and half to two years for his teeth to stay.
So my suggestion is to get his teeth filled so that he does not have a progress in decay that can in future cause nerve exposure and pain.
So it is better to treat early..

Brief Answer:
Decay cannot be stopped without treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Decay can be reduced in its speed if good oral hygiene is maintained but it cannot be completely stopped..
So of you wish to wait and watch you can and if you see progress in decay get it filled..
