Question: I have a painful lump in my left breast, it first appeared after a fall a month ago. It bruised severely. I've been waiting to see if it would go away, but it is not. What should I do?

The lump may be a hematoma or a cyst, cysts can form as a result of trauma.

the fact that the lump appeared as a result of trauma means that it is likely benign (not cancerous).

Monitoring it was a good idea, you may want to consider warm compresses to affected area along with anti inflammatory meds (if you can use them).

The warm compress would increase blood supply to the area, help to dissolve any collection and may help with pain relief. It should be done 2 to 4 times a day for 15 to 20 mins.

Anti inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen,naproxen etc, would also be helpful.
These medications would decrease the inflammation in the area and help the lump to improve. They should be used consistently for 4 to 5 days then you can stop to see if there is any change.
